This week, IBM announced that it would refrain from using genetic data to screen prospective employees. The fact that this decision needed to be made public is a bit worrying; as employers seemingly crouch in on privacy rights, it looks like they may not be stopping with existing employees. People can be subjecting themselves to a very personal background check by merely applying for a job.
